Yup, you were right. I don't get it. I wasn't there for that one.
Matt. Can you help us out on this one?
KJ, you should understand at least one thing, virgin shirley temple. I threw that in so at least you, and others, would understand at least one thing on this post.
Oh, and the coke factory? Hello didn't you ever go there with us? We pretty much went once a week for two years. Ahhh, yes. Mini-concerts at the Steele's
I think I remember an inside joke about the virgin shirley temple, but I won't say because knowing me I would make a fool of myself once again.
And I did spend plenty of nights at the Coke Factory...I never loved that place though, but the company was always nice!
I hope you know yourself...it has been 27 years and 364 days.
Cam once asked for a virgin shirley temple. We all thought he was joking, but as it turns out he was not. He thought a shriley temple was an alcohloic drink and he had asked for them as such since he was old enough to order his own drinks.
Doesn'y anyone else remember Beverly from Italy? It tasted as if you pureed 10 grapefruit peels and then drank it. Bitter, sour, and nastay.
I will allow Matt to explain the rest. If after 3 days neither Matt nor Jono have imputed the story I will have to do so.
The Coke Factory remains one of the greatest places built in the history of humans constructing buildings. So very sad it closed--I shed a tear each time I drive by.
I don't remember any one specific story regarding Beverely, but I do remember it's magical flavor--perfume, lemon peel, human sweat, and seltza. How any human alive would consume that beverage for pleasure, blows my mind.
I also remember that we formed the Beverely Club. To join, you first had to drink a little just to see what you were in for, and then an entire cup--also a suicide (all 30 flavors) if I am still remembering correctly. There may or may not have been secret handshakes involved.
The best part about Beverly was introducing it to someone for the first time. Never a dissapointment. It was almost as good as yelling out the answers to the quiz questions in the coke movie before the film finished asking the questions:
Q: If all the Coca-Coca ever produced were in 6 1/2 oz, bottles and played end-to-end, how many times would they would wrap around the earth?
A: 11,863 times!
Q: If all the Coke ever produced were poured into swimming pool, how big would it be?
A: It would be 20 miles long, 8 miles wide, and 6 feet deep. It would hold over 512 million people allowing 54 cubic feet per person!
And who could forget Yum-Yum!
Holy crap. So after a quick google I found that there is Beverly Flickr group.
Also a few YouTube videos of people drinking it.
This one is the best.
Most importantly--the Vegas Coke Factory is open! And just in time for Valentines Day!
I rememeber "Beverly from Italy", (said in a sing-song voice). I think you introduced it to me Taylor, and later I brought my little brothers and sisters there to try it because it is quite nasty and memorable.
I had totally forgetten about the movie quiz which we knew by heart.
Matt - Is it just my imagination or did you not tell many Cheyenne students that the Beastie Boys were giving a free concert at the Coke Factory. More importantly, some of our fellow desert sields believed you.
Chile sold Yum Yum imported from Asia. I drank it couple of times just for kicks because it was not good.
The suicide was always a fun game. Thirty flavors from around the world in less than 5 minutes. I think we did it every time we went. That might explain my type II diabetes.
We need to go when I return to "The Meadows" this August.
Do you remember the black female security guard who always had the night shift on Fridays? Each time we came in she would roll her eyes and say, "Ohhhhh no, not again." She loved us though...we could have gotten away with murder in there.
I want to go back!!!!
OK, now I really know I was left out in high school because I have only been to the Coke Factory once. I only have vague memories of it. I know for sure I never tried a Beverly from Italy. What was so wrong with me you guys? Leavin' me out all the day.
Now I remember the virgin Shirley Temple. That was awesome. I am guessing he really had no clue because the Steele's NEVER went out to eat.
Wait, maybe they did, but I was never invited...
I thought the museum was the best part. Imagine, Coke gas pumps. Absurd!
I was always so sick after leaving that place. Good to know it is open again, now my kids can experience the Beverly from Italy.
